ALTERNATE ROUTES
Being back at home was a strange feeling. Sure it was nice getting to spend time with the parents and seing all your friends, but there was this feelng that I just shouldn’t be here. I knew it was he right decision I had taken and that there weren’t really other optins that made sense, but I took me a bit do accept not being in South America any more.
Instead, I was back in the place where I escaped from just a couple of months ago, having to deal with all the thing that I found annoying about my country. But fortunately it didn’t take me long to see the bright side to it – and again there was the time with my family, my Ma’s food and my Stepdad’s wine that let me put on 2-3kgs quite quickly, seeing my friends and getting to hang out with them, working on my projects like filming and video making, getting back on my mountainbike and most importantly, the luxury of HAVING TIME and not feeling economic pressure! Plus I got to drive my beloved classic car again (and I was driving it for almost 14 days straight at the beginning)!
When you come across a situation like that, you have to take advantage and make the most of it. The weeks I spent at home, organising my stuff and getting some paperwork sorted – and built my first website for a business (check it out here). Then the fun really started and suddenly many opportunities appeared: from being asked to host a video for the tattoo studio I usually go to, shooting this video, getting to know more interesting people that I can work with, chances to improve my video game, and eventually spend time with my dad for a couple of weeks – having to take a break from what I actually planned to do this year didn’t look too dull in the end at all!
Just have a look, my latest video sums it all up quite spot on:
At the end of the day I think it comes down to a pretty simple thing: it’s all about the attitude you bring to the table, especially when you can’t do anything about a situation. Look for options, use an alternate route or even take a detour – you’ll figure it out, and in the end sure it’ll be grand!
I mean look at me: my travelling even continues, it’ll only take place in Europe for now until South America will be all set and ready to continue the journey there. And depending on how you define travelling or a journey, you might as well just do that in this moment without being abroad or on another continent - ever though about that?
What I can surely say is that - at least for me - travelling also happens mentally and spiritually. So even though I’m currently not in South America, I’m on my way, physically and mentally. The time here in Europe will be great as well and I’m sure it will help me for future chapters to come. It’ll all be grand. Hard to whack, ay?
